Why do we take photos?

 Almost everyone has a smartphone on them, regardless of what they are doing or where they are going, allowing us to capture special moments and memories wherever we are. We are able to take hundreds of photos a day, selfies, kids sports, a trip to the park, Sunsets. We record our daily lives as part of our culture. We take photos to remember moments, people and places. But is it more than that? Why do we take photos? 

 

 

To recreate a feeling  

We take photos to remind ourselves of a feeling. It’s not just remembering something that happened, it’s recalling the emotions and sensations that were present at that time too. Taking a photo of your children playing together, the time they took their first steps or stated school, a holiday and seeing something truly magical while you were travelling. You can remember the exact moment you realised you wanted to preserve this beauty forever in a photo.
